The 2012 Gujarat legislative assembly election was held in the Indian state of Gujarat in two phases : 13 and 17 December 2012 as per the schedule. As per the results, immediate Chief Minister Narendra Modi led Bharatiya Janata Party is chosen by people of Gujarat giving it a majority with 115 seats. The BJP has been in power in Gujarat since 1995.
In this election, the people of Gujarat selected the 182 members of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.
In this election, incumbent Chief Minister Narendra Modi of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), in power since 2002, was running for a third term. While the leader from the opposition was Shaktisinh Gohil of the Indian National Congress.
Results were announced on 20th December. Results are as following.
